DIRECTOR, TWO BRIDGES SENIOR HOUSING RESIDENCE

Position Summary
The Director will be responsible for directing and providing social work services, case coordination, education and recreational activities and meals at the Two Bridges Senior Housing Residence, a Section 202 with 108 units for elderly and disabled, for diverse seniors in the immediate neighborhood.
Responsibilities
Case Management
Provide the following case management services in Chinese and English languages:
-
Information and referral - Maintain care plans
-
Advocacy - Supportive Contact
-
Benefit and entitlement assistance
-
Financial planning
Be able to recognize, assess and refer for mental health issues: depression, anxiety, bereavement, psychosomatic illnesses, family issues, maladaptive behaviors, cross-cultural barriers/stress, and dementia.
Service Coordination
-
Provide home visitations
-
Coordinate services with health professionals as needed
-
Coordinate care and services clients receive from various auspices: home health care, benefit & entitlements agencies, legal and financial service providers, etc.
Administration
-
Manage fiscal operations/ budget for Helen Harris
-
Maintain compliance with HUD guidelines
-
Participate in trainings
-
Compile and submit reports and vouchers on regular basis
-
Work with management company and building staff (manager, super., security guard, etc.) on necessary issues
-
Participate in regular administrative staff and senior service coordination meetings
Other Duties
-
Assist/coordinate macro senior service wide events such as arts display, etc.
-
Participate in regular supervision with Assistant Executive Director.
Qualifications
-
Master degree preferred in one of the following fields: social work, counseling, psychology, gerontology
-
Bilingual English/Cantonese and/or Mandarin required
-
Three years of experience working with older adults preferred
-
Sensitivity to and understanding of the needs of older adults
-
Ability to handle complex and difficult situations in a professional manner. Demonstrated ability to conduct a calm and professional demeanor when dealing with the public and/or with difficult situations
-
Ability to develop collaborative relationships with designated community groups
-
Excellent computer skills required including experience with data management systems, willingness to learn other programs as required.

Strong verbal and written Communication skills
-
Highly organized and detail oriented; able to plan, manage and successfully complete multiple concurrent projects, frequently with short deadlines

Must be able to work independently

Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00AM to 5:00PM, 35 hours per week
Salary Range: $65,000 to $70,000 depending on qualifications and experience

Under the sponsorship of Hamilton-Madison House, the NORC (Naturally Occurring Retirement Community) is a partnership of social service provider, the housing partner (Knickerbocker Village), a health care partner, and the seniors. Beyond these core partners, the NORC brings together community resources, develops, maintains and expands partnerships to provide the supportive environment and services allowing those residing in the complex, age 60 and over, to be able to age in place and remain active and engaged members of the community for as long as possible.
The Activities Coordinator is an integral part of the NORC interdisciplinary team, who will oversee the educational and recreational programming at Knickerbocker Village NORC. This position is to maintain and develop programming that is interesting and culturally appropriate to entice attendance among the older adults at the Knickerbocker Village NORC location. This position is also responsible for advertising programs to the community. This position reports to the Director of Knickerbocker Village NORC.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in the human service area or high school diploma with extensive social service-related experience
• Possess specialized skills, knowledge, or information on various recreational/educational activities
• Warm personality and energetic, able to work with groups, especially senior citizens
• Bilingual in Chinese and English required
Responsibilities:
• Program instructors and volunteers report to this position
• Responsible for planning and conducting recreational and cultural activities
• Coordinates trips, group activities, workshops, and special events such as holiday meals, birthday parties, special holiday celebrations, etc.
• Coordinates the program’s volunteer activities, including recruitment, screening, training, and supervision of the volunteers
• Also coordinates inter-program, inter-agency, and intergenerational activities
• Prepares fliers, newsletters, bulletin boards, activity schedules, etc.
• Responsible for keeping volunteer and client attendance and any other individual and group activity records
• Develops, coordinates, and runs new program activities and outreach events
• Conducts assessments for Case Management and Case Assistance and performs timely referrals
• Oversees Telephone Reassurance Program
• Oversees Friendly Visiting Program
• Assists in other areas when staff is out
• Other duties as assigned by the Director
