Service Provided: Since 1976, DOROT has been a leader in alleviating social isolation among older adults and uniting the generations through vital programs and services that foster mutually beneficial social connections, create a sense of belonging, and build community. DOROT understands that a key to easing isolation is to be strategic and intentional in bringing people together and creating environments that foster meaningful connections over time. Our ability to offer programs in diverse modes supports the varied interests of older New Yorkers and reflects our strength-based philosophy to serving older adults in a way that ensures dignity, independence, and choice. Our programs meet older adults where they are through offerings in person at DOROT, in older adults’ homes, over Zoom, and by telephone. Our remote programs enable us to engage individuals who, due to choice, circumstance, or geography, do not participate in our in-person programs.

• H.O.P.E Program (Homebound Outreach Project for the Elderly)-

A volunteer-serviced program providing a weekly telephone “friendly-visit” to frail, homebound older adults, age 60 and older, living alone, who have little, if any, social support and are able to engage in the weekly phone contact.

Available to the 5 boroughs

• Elder Mistreatment Case Coordination-

Provide support, education, advocacy, information and referrals to hospitalized victims, (age 60 and older) of Elder Abuse and Mistreatment.

• Elder Mistreatment Committee- comprised of professionals affiliated with a Community or Governmental agency, and private practitioners

Group meets monthly, the 4th Thurs. of the month (does not meet in July & August) 9:30AM - 11AM.  Open to Community Social Workers in Manhattan.  Please call if you would like to join.
